My powers of circular reasoning are excellent, and they have led me to this stunning conclusion: Home is where you feel at home.

Home is where you can set down our burdens and be at peace. It is a place, a person, or a language that speaks to your heart. Maybe it is a watch given to you by your in-laws that says, “Yes. This is you family now.” It is a special way of making tea, a book that you never travel without, a necklace, or an accent.

As a writing exercise, think of a symbol that represents home to you. Maybe it’s something on the list. Maybe it isn’t. Then, in your piece, describe why this person/place/thing/tradition represents home for you.
