Frequently Asked Questions:
Why “Peel Pages”?
The reason why we chose the name is twofold. First, we wanted to challenge ourselves to dig a little deeper and showcase people or work that you may not read about in other publications; we hope that our work will include articles that that go beyond just what the current hype is about. And second, we heard that bananas help ripen the fruit around it, and that all you need really is the banana peel to do so. In the same way, we hope to help “ripen” the culture around us.
What’s with the reverse pilcrow for a logo?
Apart from the fact that is sort of looks like two overlapping P’s (for “Peel Pages”! get it?), in the middle ages a pilcrow was used to mark a new train of thought before the paragraph became common. Likewise, Peel Pages seeks to introduce not only emerging artists or current events, but to perhaps suggest a new way of thinking and interacting with the world around us.
Will there be a print magazine? When is the first publication?
We are currently working on our first print issue to be released in the beginning of fall, most likely early December. This website is a “soft launch” for the full magazine, so keep on the look out for more website updates and our first issue!
Who are our target readers?
Peel Pages is for everyone! If you enjoy stunning photos, insightful essays, beautiful lyrical prose, and/or any creative expression of thoughts on people, places, and things, you’ve come to the right magazine. Due to the geographic location of our small editorial team, most of our distribution will be in the San Francisco Bay Area for now. However, as Peel Pages grows, we definitely hope to expand not only in our content, but also in readership across the States.
